Grouting should not take place until after the specified curing period provided by the EOR.

Prior to grouting the PS=Ø couplers or joint, verify all of the materials have arrived on-site. Confirm condition of grout, size of joint, and usage of PS=Ø Closure Strip. Check the couplers for debris and water. Please be sure to review ACI Hot/Cold Weather Concrete Procedures.

Our grout has a working temperature range of 45° F to 90° F, avoid grout from freezing overnight. Grout has a shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture, store in a cool, dry, indoor environment.

Mix Grout

Water Requirements 6.3 pints (3.0 L) of clean potable water per 50 lb. bag (22.7 kg).

  1. Mix full bags using heavy duty electric mixers with mud or jiffy type mixing paddles. Do not hand mix. Add grout to water while mixer is running. Scrape sides of mixer to ensure all material is incorporated into the final product.
  2. Mix only the amount of material that can be placed in 30 minutes. Pour the required amount of potable water into a clean mixing container, then add the measured amount of Ø1 Grout while continuing to mix.
  3. Blend thoroughly for 2-3 minutes to a lump free, desired consistency. Small amounts of Ø1 Grout can be mixed using a trowel or a heavy-duty 1/2” drill (400-600 rpm) and paddle. DO NOT overwater, retemper, over mix, or aerate (entrain air).
  4. Clean the mixing container thoroughly after each batch to avoid getting hardened mortar into subsequent batches.

Check Slump

Check slump utilizing provided slump tube and slump chart. 9” is recommended.

Grout Couplers

Grout couplers first. Filling one grout tube completely until grout comes out opposite grout tube.

Grout Joint
