Eliminating Traditional Pour Strips in Healthcare
The new LBJ Hospital expansion in Houston is one of the largest healthcare projects in Texas, delivered through a progressive design-build partnership led by HKS and McCarthy. As part of the effort to accelerate construction and eliminate long-standing challenges with traditional pour strips, the project team selected PS=Ø for its ability to simplify movement joints and streamline structural sequencing.
By eliminating pour strips and the need for delayed pours, PS=Ø helped reduce schedule complexity, improved workflow between trades, and delivered higher quality concrete with fewer rework issues. In a fast-paced healthcare environment where speed and precision are critical, PS=Ø allowed the team to stay ahead of schedule without compromising structural integrity or safety.
