Project Summary

Simplified Design. Eliminated Compromise. Built to Last.

On the Tampa International Airport - Airside D project, HNTB originally designed a large leave-out to accommodate thermal movement and concrete shrinkage—adding complexity, coordination challenges, and constructibility concerns.

By implementing PS=Ø for Expansion Joints, that complex detail was replaced with a simpler, more efficient solution. Our patented system allowed for natural movement without the need for traditional expansion joints or large leave-outs—streamlining both design and construction.

This project also highlights the versatility of PS=Ø. Used within a composite steel and concrete structure, the system delivered performance without forcing architectural or structural compromises.

Traditional expansion joints are known problem areas—prone to leaks, ongoing maintenance, and costly repairs. PS=Ø eliminates those risks entirely, providing a cleaner, more durable solution that performs long after construction is complete.

Tampa Airside D stands as a powerful example of how PS=Ø simplifies complexity—delivering better design, faster construction, and long-term reliability without compromise.
